This private, escorted adventure takes you on a 9
day immersion in the world’s most fascinating ancient civilization. Anything
you’ve ever seen or read about Egypt can’t fully prepare you for the larger than
life awe of being there and seeing it in person. The Nile Adventure allows ample
time to experience it all - the major sites plus Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. Travel
is by private car, horse drawn calesche, camel, the famous overnight sleeper
train and 4 relaxing days cruising on a luxury Nile riverboat in the time
honored tradition. Departures are guaranteed daily. The group size is just you,
minimum 2 persons.

Your
Itinerary
Day
1.
You will be met at the Cairo airport by your
personal Guide and driver. Your escort will meet you as you enter the
terminal and before Immigration. Your Guide will
give you your visa, assist with immigration, luggage and customs, then
take you to your hotel for the evening. Overnight in Cairo.
Day
2.
Start with a visit to the Egyptian
Museum in the morning. In the afternoon visit the
Citadel of Saladin, the Mosque of Mohammed
Ali and Coptic
Cairo including the Hanging Church and the Ben
Ezra Synagogue.
Afterwards, if you wish, your escort will drop you off at the Khan Al Khalili
bazaar. Overnight in Cairo.
Day
3.
The entire day will be devoted to antiquities. Memphis, Saqqara,
The Pyramids and The Sphinx. You will even ride camels at the
Pyramids. Overnight in Cairo.
Day
4.
Today starts early with the trip by air to
Aswan. The morning will be free except for boarding your Nile cruiser which
will be your home and tour base for the next 3 nights. Optionally, see
Abu Simbel, the two magnificent temples of Ramses
II…a not to be missed site. You fly to Abu Simbel, take the
tourist bus for the 5-minute ride to the monuments, hear the
lecture from the Egyptologists stationed at the monuments,
return by bus to the airport for your return flight to
Aswan. We leave early to avoid the crowds and to be able to
see this wonder in early light. We return by air to Aswan. In the
afternoon you will visit the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and
Philae
Temple and
enjoy a felucca ride around the Nile islands and the area
around the Agha Khan Mausoleum (the interior is
closed).
Then the boat will set sail for Kom Ombo where you will spend
overnight aboard the boat. Overnight aboard the boat.
Day
5.
The day will start with a visit to Kom Ombo, the
Temple
shared by the two gods Sobek and Haroeris. Afterwards,
the boat will continue on to Edfu where you will visit the Temple of Horus
and spend the night on the boat.
Day 6.
The day starts with the sail to Esna and the crossing of the
lock in the river. Continue on to Luxor. In the afternoon
you will visit Karnak and the Temple of Luxor. Overnight on
board the boat.
Day
7.
The day starts by a crossing to the West Bank followed by a
visit to the Necropolis of Thebes, Valley of the Kings, The Temple
of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.
Later you will be
taken to the station to take the overnight Sleeper Train to Cairo. Dinner and breakfast on the train.
Guests with the air option will fly to Cairo and overnight
in Cairo.
Day
8.
This is a totally free Day in Cairo for you to decide with your guide
what to do. The guide and private car will be available to you all
day. An optional farewell dinner and show on one of Cairo’s
famous floating restaurants is available and highly recommended as a
great way to cap off your visit.. A
dayroom will be available at the hotel for freshening up in the
afternoon and after the show.
Day
9.
Transfer to the airport
for your early morning departure, between midnight and 3 AM.
If your flight departs after 3 AM, an additional
night in the hotel will be necessary.

Itinerary may vary slightly from the above to accommodate flight
schedules and availability, and other factors. All sight seeing and
services as stated will be included.
GRATUITIES. It is customary in Egypt to provide tips for your Guide,
Driver, porters and others who will provide services for you. Refer to
Baksheesh for details of the custom. Upon arrival, your Guide will request
a small amount from you to be used to provide baksheesh to other. Although
tipping of your Guide and Driver is not required, it is expected. We suggest an
average tip of $10/day per person for your guide and $5/day per person for your
driver. You can certainly tip in USD. Of course, you are welcome to tip more or
less depending on your satisfaction with the services provided.
LAND ONLY
PRICES. All prices are
in US dollars and are per person, double
occupancy. Extra nights can be added and
include accommodation, breakfast and the availability of your Guide,
car and driver for an 8 hour day. Contact us for Christmas,
New Years and Easter holiday periods.
PRE-
and POST-TOUR NIGHTS AND EXTENSIONS. If
you arrive one or more days before your tour or depart
one or more days after it ends we can provide excellent
accommodations in Cairo. We also have an excellent
selection of Extensions to your tour. After all,
you've come all this way, you may as well see and do more.
TRAVEL
INSURANCE.
We strongly recommend the purchase of Travel
insurance. This coverage protects you financially if
you should have to cancel or interrupt your trip due to an
unforeseen circumstance or if you need to seek medical
attention while traveling. The price is
approximately 6% of the total.
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS.
Flights to and from Cairo are
not included in our prices. We are happy to research
airfares and schedules for you.
International air is only available with purchase of the
Egypt land package.
